Auto racing between cars dates back to 30th August, 1867 in England, where 2 self powered road vehicles raced at a distance that totalled 8 miles between Ashton-under-Lyne and Old Trafford. However, the world's first motoring contest that involved multiple vehicles took place on July 22nd 1894 between Paris to Rouen. The competition included over 100 hundred initial entrants, with about 69 cars starting the 50 km selection event, but only 25 entrants were selected in the end to start the main race event.
